JACKSON - A Jackson businessman is one of 10 "Outstanding Young Civic Leaders" for 1991 in Missouri.
The honoree, Kevin W. Sawyer, 33, of 913 Kent, operates Sawyer Insurance and Realty. He is one of the youngest members to serve on the Jackson Board of Aldermen and one of the youngest people to serve as president of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce, a position he has held for two years.
The awards were presented Feb. 16 at Tan-Tar-A Lodge on Lake of the Ozarks.
Sawyer was cited for his membership and work on several boards that have contributed to growth in the area, including the Regional Commerce and Growth Association, the Tri-County Coalition on Highway Development, the Jackson Industrial Development Co., and the Jackson Planning and Zoning Commission.
Sawyer was a member of the city of Jackson's 175th anniversary celebration committee, and is a member of the activities and government relations committee of the Jackson Elks Lodge. He is a member of the The Friends of Steam Railroading.
Sawyer is past recipient of the Jackson Jaycees Distinguished Service Award (1990) and is a life member of the Excelsior Order of DeMolay.
