The Jackson Lady Indians softball team's season ended in the district championship game against Fox, but it was a good season for Jackson.
The team finished 14-8 for the year, topping last year's win total by five wins.
Jackson was soundly defeated in their last game of the season against Fox at Arena Park in Cape Girardeau, 8-1.
But after the disappointment of the championship game loss subsides the team and coaching staff can look back on a very successful year.
Jackson softball has something to build on for next year. Next year's team will be minus six seniors, but Coach Becky Riney should have plenty of experienced underclass players that will step up and continue the positives that this year's team showed.
Alisha Liley, Mindy Myers, Christina Woods, Sarah Onderdonk, Carmen Smith and Jackie Langford won't be a part of next year's team, but they can look back with pride at the accomplishments of the 1996 team that was one win short of the district championship.
