One of four incumbents will face a challenger during the April 6 election for the Jackson Board of Aldermen.

The deadline for filing was Tuesday.

Tim Welker will face challenger Dustin Cauble in Ward 1. Welker was appointed Sept. 8 to fill the seat of Curt Poore, who resigned prior to the expiration of his full term.

Cauble believes he has a good chance of winning. "I decided to run because I believe there is a need for a public servant that will promote the needs of our citizens over the needs of our government," Cauble said. "If elected I would accomplish this through improved transparency and promoting more citizen involvement in our government."

However, Welker said he chose to serve as an alderman to serve the public and meet its needs.

"I see what the needs are and I'd like to improve upon them too," Welker said.

Dave Reiminger is seeking another term in Ward 2, Larry Cunningham is seeking another term in Ward 3, and Joe Bob Baker is seeking another term in Ward 4.
