The Jackson Civic Center is about one month away from completion and only about two from a grand opening.
The committee overseeing the project met Friday to discuss progress and plans for finalization. Barring unforeseen complications, the facility, at 381 E. Deerwood Drive, will be finished Dec. 1.
Jackson Public Works director Rodney Bollinger stated via email interior painting and cabinetry will be completed by the end of this week. Carpets, audio and visual equipment are scheduled to be installed by Nov. 13.
Landscaping including trees and sod will be completed at that time.
Bollinger said a punch-list walk-through of the facility by the architect will take place Nov. 12 to ensure the construction is finished, at which time the "project completion schedule" can begin.
Shortly after the walk-through, the city will begin moving into the facility and training city staff on building operations and protocols.
The contractors' final completion date is Dec. 1, and the grand opening will be in January, but that date has not been set.
