JACKSON -- Maybe you can't fight city hall, but you can buy it in January.
The city of Jackson will sell its old City Hall at 225 S. High St., to the highest bidder at 10 a.m. on Jan. 5.
City offices will move to the new location on Courthouse Square on Dec. 29. All offices except the collector's office will be closed that day so furniture, files and other supplies can be moved to the new site.
All offices will open at the new location on Jan. 2.
Officials won't turn over possession of the old building to its new owner until the city library moves sometime in April, Mayor Paul Sander said.
At first, it didn't seem the new City Hall was a good place for the library due to its architecture. Later, officials decided they could fit a library the same size as the current one on the first two floors of the building's west wing.
At the new location, library books will be on the first floor and reading space on the second floor.
