JACKSON -- The Jackson Municipal Band will hold its weekly concert Thursday at 8 p.m. at the band shell in the Jackson City Park.
Special guests for the concert are Marilee and Christy Roethemeyer. Marilee directs the youth and adult choirs at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, where her husband Sam is pastor. She also sings at weddings, church services and civic organizations.
Christy is a 1993 graduate of Jackson High School and will be majoring in music at Southeast Missouri State University.
The program will contain vocal selections from the 1930s and 1940s and some patriotic keyboard selections performed by Christy.
The band's portion of the concert will include: "American Spiritual," and armed forces tribute entitled "America's Finest," selections from the Broadway musical "Phantom of the Opera," and a collection of country songs made popular by Willie Nelson.
The concert is free. Those attending are asked to bring a lawn chair.
