Get your summer fun calendars ready: Jackson's going to be a busy place in the next few weeks.

The Jackson Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual installation banquet Monday, June 24, at the Jackson Knights of Columbus Hall.

New officers are Jeff Moore, president; Brent Wills, vice president; and John N. Thompson, secretary.

Dr. Linda Godwin, a NASA astronaut and Oak Ridge native, will be the guest speaker.

Another highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the 1996 R.A. Fulenwider Award for meritorious service to the community.

On July 4, the Jackson Jaycees will celebrate with a day full of fun for everyone in Jackson City Park.

Highlights of the annual summer event include games, rides, a mud volleyball tournament, craft show, exhibits of antique cars and fire engines, children's games, food, a fireworks display and a performance by the Jackson Municipal Band.

The chamber will hold its annual Ag-Business Tour on July 17. The tour alternates annually between the business and agriculture sectors of the community, and this year, the ag sector will be in the spotlight.

The day-long tour will feature UniStar, Knaupf Greenhouse, Associated Sheet Metal, RAPCO, VIP Industries and Fruitland Dressed Meats.

Lunch will be at Flickerwood Arena.

Reservations for the tour are now being taken. Call the Chamber of Commerce office at 243-8131 for more information, or to sign up.

Downtown Jackson will be the place to be the week of July 13-17 for the annual Homecomers Festival.

Are you a horseshoe fan? Aug. 16-18, the Jackson Knights of Columbus will host the Knights of Columbus State Horseshoe Tournament at the KC Hall on Highway 61 North.

An estimated 800 participants are expected to be in town for the tournament.
