Classes were canceled for the rest of the semester at Immaculate Conception School in Jackson. The buildings sustained major damage from Tuesday's tornado, which took part of the roof off and blew out windows.
Principal Tami Nenninger said grades will be issued based on students' performance in the previous three quarters of the school year. Kindergarten graduation will be May 19 and eighth-graders will graduate May 20.
In the three days since the storm, much progress has been made on picking up debris.
"It's going well," Nenninger said. "We've got the initial cleanup completed and now we've got professional cleaners in and we're drying things out."
During Mass ceremonies this weekend, parents will be given information about what will happen next and a newsletter will be mailed Monday, she said. Any rebuilding plans will be outlined by June 15.
"By then, we hope to have some idea where we're going with all this," she said.
Nenninger is certain Immaculate Conception will resume classes in the fall.
"We will have school -- and it will be OK."
