Held hearing to consider the 2002 Library Tax Rate as proposed to be set by the mayor and Board of Aldermen.

Held hearing to consider the 2002 tax rates for parks and recreation, general revenue, cemetery and band as proposed to be set by the mayor and Board of Aldermen.

Action Items

Power and Light Committee

Approved an ordinance establishing the 2002 tax rates.

Changed the regular council meeting date form Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, to Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at 7:30 p.m. due to the Labor Day holiday.

Accepted the bid of R&K Excavation Inc. of Festus, Mo., in the amount of $290,682.76 relative to the Hubble Creek Trunk Sewer Project.

Approved an ordinance readopting Article VII, Chapter 2 of the City Code.

Street Committee

Approved the preliminary plat of Nine Oaks Subdivision as submitted by Ron Clark and Bobby Clark.

Amended the Stop Street Schedule -- Schedule VI by adding certain stop street designations on Dogwood Avenue.

Approved an ordinance banning dogs at the annual American Legion Homecomers Celebration and the annual Jackson Jaycees Fourth of July Celebration.

Set a public hearing for Monday, Sept. 16, at 7:30 p.m. to consider proposed amendments to the Zoning and Land Subdivision Regulations of Jackson relative to the addition of a reduced side and/or rear setback requirement for attached single family dwellings.

Set a public hearing for Monday, Sept. 16, at 7:30 p.m. to consider the request for a special use permit for the construction and operation of a 150-foot communications tower at 2620 E. Jackson Boulevard as submitted by Cingular Wireless and James and Brenda Turner.

Approved the final plat of Cambridge Estates Subdivision, Phase 1, as submitted by Robert Weber and Ronald Hecht.
