JACKSON BOARD OF ALDERMEN ACTION

Public hearings

* Hearing to discuss the city's submission of an application to the state for participation in the Community Development Block Grant.

Action items

* Accepted a $30,900 bid from Artisan Contracting Inc., of Ste. Genevieve to remove an obsolete generator.

* Approved resolution to seek funding through Community Development Block Grant action-fund loan program.

* Accepted storm water drainage, detention and access easement deed from Oak Enterprises LLC.

* Authorized the use of outside loud speakers at Jackson Tire Center at 1901 E. Jackson Blvd., on June 4 between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. for a customer appreciation day.

* Set a public hearing for June 27 to consider the rezoning of all the property addressed as 304 Daisy Ave. from R-2 (single-family residential) to C-2 (general commercial district) as submitted by the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

* Set public hearing for June 27 to consider the rezoning of all property addressed as 112 Morgan St. from R-1 (single-family residential) to R-2 (single-family residential) and R-3 (one- and two-family residential) as submitted by Missouri Lakes LLC.

* Approved resolution designating the National Incident Management System as the basis for all incident management in the city.

* Authorized a cost-participation agreement with the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission, regarding the West Independence Street/North Farmington Road intersection signalization project.

* Authorized an amended agreement with the MHTC, regarding the center junction safety lighting project.

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY COMMISSION MINUTES

* Letter from Jackson Mayor Paul Sander, notifying that the guidelines set out in commission's correspondence of April 28, regarding special road and bridge improvements is acceptable to the city of Jackson.

* Local sales tax report received for $193,753.96 from the Missouri Department of Revenue.

* Reply letter from Judge William Syler regarding using county prisoners to assist in the litter campaign. Judges Syler and Benjamin Lewis support the project and have no objections to using inmates who have been granted trustee status, but they do have concerns about supervision and liability insurance.

* Appointed Jim Andrews, Judy Aufdenberg and Don Hanscom to the sheltered workshop board.

* Roger Hudson, David Ludwig and Diane Diebold of the Depository Fund Committee, recommended that the county commission accept the bid of US Bank on the depository funds for Cape Girardeau County. Motion passed to accept the recommendation.

* Commission authorized the county to purchase DNI card for telephone system in the amount of $750.

* Letter received from the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency notifying that they are administering the U.S. Department of Homeland Security National Incident Management Capability Assessment Support Tool. The assessment tool is part of the overall implementation process for the NIMS and the corresponding federal, state and local compliance requirements.
