JACKSON -- The Jackson Municipal Band under the direction of Nick Leist will perform at 8 tonight at Jackson City Park Band Shell.
Special guests this week will be a jazz trio composed of Dr. Richard Moore, Matt Pittman and Ryan Harper.
Moore, known throughout the area as an outstanding jazz keyboard player, has performed with many of the top jazz players in the Midwest and records Christmas tapes.
Pittman is an all-state jazz bass player presently attending the University of Missouri at Kansas City, majoring in music performance. He has played for many local groups and around the Kansas City area.
Ryan, a senior at Jackson High School, was selected as a member of the All-State Jazz Band last year and as the outstanding jazz soloist in several competitions. After graduation, he plans to continue his studies in jazz percussion.
The band's portion of the free concert will include: "On An American Spiritual," "It Don't Mean A Thing," "Emblem of Unity," a collection of country songs titled "A Touch of Country" and selections from "My Fair Lady."
