JACKSON -- With the filing deadline less than a week away, none of the four incumbent Jackson Board of Aldermen have opposition, so far, in their bid for re-election.
The only race that has developed in the April municipal election is for the two vacancies on the Jackson school board.
The filing deadline for aldermanic and school board candidates is 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Candidates for aldermen may file at the city clerk's officer at the Jackson City Hall. Candidates for school board may file at the Jackson School District offices on Oklahoma Street.
In the school board race, incumbent Jeanette Bollinger of 730 Legion Drive, is running for one of the two, three-year terms on the board. Bollinger was elected to the board last year to serve out the one-year, unexpired term of former school board member Nancy Schaefer.
Other candidates who have filed are Marvin Adams of 1302 Greenway, and Mark Martin of 1111 Shady Lane. Adams and Martin filed Jan. 7; Bollinger filed Jan. 15. The two candidates who receive the most votes will be elected.
Ward Four Alderman LeRoy Brown, and Ward One Alderman David Ludwig were the first to file for re-election on Jan. 7. Ward Two Alderman Phil Johnston filed Jan. 8, and Ward Three Alderman Glenn Oldham filed Jan. 9.
In last year's aldermanic election, there were races in wards one and three, and for city collector.
Three candidates, including two incumbents, were involved in a race for the two, three-year terms on the school board last year, while two candidates vied for the one-year, un-expired seat on the board.
