Jackson aldermen OK no-parking zones

After postponing the vote at its last meeting, the Jackson Board of Aldermen approved no parking zones along North High Street and Lacey Street on Monday night.

On North High Street there will be no parking from Mary Street to West Park Street. The North Lacey Street zone would be between Ridge Road and East Main Street and East Main Street to Ridgeway Drive.

Other approved items:

* A motion to change the date of the board of aldermen meeting from Feb. 21 to Feb. 22 in observance of Presidents Day.

* A motion accepting Plaza Tire Service of Jackson's bid of $18.95 per oil change and authorizing a contractual agreement, under the 2011 Vehicle Oil Change and Lubrication Service Program.

* A bill proposing an ordinance authorizing the mayor to sign depository agreements with the Bank of Missouri and US Bank.

* A bill proposing an ordinance authorizing a contractual agreement with Utility Service Co. of Perry, Ga., relative to providing maintenance services on the 675,000-gallon water plant storage tank.

* A bill proposing an ordinance accepting the dedication of a sanitary sewer easement deed and a storm-water drainage easement deed from New McKendree Methodist Church Inc. regarding the Easton Drive Extension Project.
