Mary Bauer, Jackson's Junior Miss Christmas, was crowned Miss Preteen Missouri on June 14 at the Miss Missouri Misses Pageant.

The statewide competition is sanctioned by the Miss Missouri/ Miss America Scholarship Pageants and is for winners of local preliminary pageants associated with the Miss Missouri Scholarship Pageant. The annual American Business Women's Association Christmas and Miss Jackson pageants are official preliminaries for the Miss Missouri Misses/Miss Missouri/Miss America Pageant.

Bauer, 12, is the daughter of Bob and Teresa Bauer and a student at St. Mary's School.

Competitions at the pageant included interview, talent, physical fitness and party wear. Bauer sang "Part of Your World" from the movie "The Little Mermaid" for the talent portion. She was also voted most photogenic by a separate panel of judges made up of professional photographers.

Bauer will be active in the upcoming ABWA Christmas pageants by helping on stage. These pageants will be held Nov. 8 in the Jackson High School auditorium. The winners will be eligible to compete in the 2004 Miss Missouri Pageant and the 2004 Miss Missouri Misses Pageant.

Information about these pageants will be available at the Jackson Chamber of Commerce after Sept. 1.
