Prosecutor Simplice Kouadio Koffi says Laurent Gbagbo was questioned Saturday by judicial officials and that his French lawyers were not present. He said Gbagbo's French lawyers were turned away Friday for not having proper visas. He saie Gbagbo's wife will be questioned today.

Gbagbo's refusal to cede power after losing a November presidential poll sent the West African nation into a spiral of violence and chaos and left hundreds dead.

Gbagbo was arrested April 11 by forces loyal to President Alassane Ouattara, who took the oath of office on Friday.
