Illinois State Police will conduct several special traffic enforcement efforts next month in the southern part of the state, according to a news release.

In Alexander County, troopers will conduct nighttime enforcement patrols specifically targeting impaired drivers, those without seat belts, those driving with suspended or revoked licenses or those transporting open alcoholic beverages.

In Massac County, troopers will focus on safety belt and child safety seat violations. Safety belt enforcement zones will be established to ensure all vehicle occupants are buckled up, in accordance with Illinois law.

Troopers in Union and Johnson counties will be watching for speeding, occupant restraint and other driving offenses.

The special patrols are funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety.
