The IRS office in Cape Girardeau will be one of about 200 locations nationwide taking part in an open house Saturday to help small businesses and individual taxpayers resolve tax problems. According to an IRS news release, staff will be available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the local office, 137 S. Broadview St. "Our goal is to resolve issues on the spot so small businesses and individuals can put any issues they have with the IRS behind them," IRS commissioner Doug Shulman said in the news release. "If you have a problem filing or paying your taxes or resolving a tough tax issue, we encourage you to come in and work with us." IRS locations will be equipped to handle issues involving notices and payments, return preparation, audits and other issues, according to the news release. The event is the first of three scheduled through the end of June. Other dates are June 5 and June 26.
