Howard County Sheriff Charlie Polson said Sadler had just killed a buck and was still in his tree stand, 18 feet in the air, when he was shot, apparently by another member of his hunting party who was shooting at the same deer.

An autopsy Wednesday confirmed that the shot that killed Sadler was fired from a far distance.

"This was a hunting accident and there is no reason to think there was any foul play involved," Polson said.
