Pavement improvements at the intersection of U.S. 61/Route ZZ/Route HH and Main Street in Sikeston, Missouri, will begin Monday. The work will be staged to allow traffic access to the intersection, but lane reductions will be in place, according to a new release from the Missouri Department of Transportation. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes or allow extra time for delays. Longer delays will occur when traveling through the intersection at peak traffic times. During construction, the current traffic signals will be temporarily disabled, and the intersection will be treated as a four-way stop. The project should be completed in late September, weather permitting.
Route V in Perry County from U.S. 61 to County Road 906 will be closed for the start of construction on Route AC. Work will take place from Monday through Aug. 17, weather permitting, a MoDOT news release stated.
All work is weather permitting. Work zones will be marked with signs. Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling near the areas. For more information, contact MoDOT's Customer Service Center at (888) 275-6636 or visit www.modot.org/southeast.
