The staff of SEMissourian.com wants to share its excitement about the potential of the Internet. The staff will offer three public training sessions on the World Wide Web in the coming weeks.
The first meeting on Thursday, May 29, will introduce beginners to the Internet, including an explanation of what the Internet is and how it works. The meeting is free. It will be held at the Cape Girardeau Vocational-Technical School, Room 214, from 7 to 8 p.m. Time will be saved for questions and answers at the end of the presentation.
Registration is requested. Individuals can fill out the form located on this page, or call the newspaper at 335-6611 or 1-800-879-1210.
For those who would like more hands-on training, two surfing sessions have been scheduled Thursday, June 5. The two-hour workshops will be held at the Cape Girardeau Public School's A+ Lab, 1913 Whitener. One starts at 10 a.m. The other starts at 7 p.m.
Registration is required and participation costs $5. Registrants will receive handouts on surfing sites for work and fun, and a stress ball in the shape of a computer.
The program is designed for beginners or those with limited Internet experience. SEMissourian.com staff will be on hand to help participants get comfortable with computers. Those attending will be surfing the Net before they leave.
