"International Reflections," an exhibit of photographs taken abroad by Southeast Missouri State University faculty, will open Monday at Gallery 100, 1707 Mt. Auburn Road.
A reception for the photographers will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 13 at the gallery. Admission to the exhibit is free.
The photographs are the work of Sam Bishop, Lane Fabrick and Edwin Smith, art professors at the university.
The faculty members have traveled throughout Europe, New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, and Eastern Asia.
"It's an equal mix of landscape, architecture, and figures," said Fabrick, whose work illustrates his travels to Austria, Germany and Switzerland.
Each photographer will display about 15 pictures in the exhibit.
"The point of the exhibit is to share their experiences," said Laura Brothers, administrative assistant at the gallery. "Hopefully we will see some of us in the people who live across an ocean or two."
One of the photographs taken by Bishop has been popular in other faculty shows.
"It is an image of two gondolas in Venice," he said. "I took it in passing and then took several posed shots, but it turned out to be the best image."
Many of the photographs have been used in slide form as teaching aids in the professors' courses.
"We hope people will see how we use different photographic images in our classes and incorporate it into the curriculum," Smith said.
Gallery 100, sponsored by the Southeast Missouri Council on the Arts, is open to the public Monday through Friday from 1 to 4 p.m.
The exhibit will be on display until Jan. 27. For more information, contact the arts council at 334-9233.
