Interior secretary visits Arch in St. Louis
ST. LOUIS -- There's a long-running discussion in St. Louis that more should be done to better connect the famed Gateway Arch that stands near the Mississippi River with the rest of the city's downtown.
Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar said Friday during a visit to St. Louis that he supports such efforts at the national park.
But the details of making it a reality remain to be seen.
National Park Service officials say they're studying to see if it makes sense to close down a few blocks of Memorial Drive, which runs between the Old Courthouse and the grounds where the Arch is located, to see if that would better link different sections of the park.
