Motorists can expect traffic delays on the Mississippi River Bridge this week.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane on the Cape Girardeau bridge Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Delays of 10 to 15 minutes can be expected, Missouri Department of Transportation officials said.
Both lanes will be closed to traffic on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and reduced to one lane two hours preceding and following the closure, officials said.
The traffic closure is necessary to perform repairs to a floor beam near the center line of the bridge, transportation officials said.
They said motorists should consider using alternate routes. Message boards will be placed on both sides of the bridge to alert motorists of the times when the bridge will be closed.
All repair work is dependent on weather conditions, MoDOT officials said.
