The Cape Girardeau Industrial Recruitment Association is seeking community input about a state juvenile facility that may be built in Klaus Park in Jackson.
The secure facility would house up to 30 male delinquents around age 15. It would bring 50 jobs to Cape Girardeau County with an annual payroll of around $1 million and operating expenses of $250,000.
Officials from the cities of Cape Girardeau and Jackson and the Cape County Commission are working together to convince the Missouri Division of Youth Services that it should build in Cape County. They want residents to fill out the survey and mail it in by Feb. 29.
