Independence Street work moves to next stage

Starting today Independence Street will be closed from Hanover Street to midblock between Park Avenue and West End Boulevard.

This portion of work will be completed within 30 to 40 days. The city suggests considering alternate routes. Businesses will remain open.

The new construction comes on the heels of the completion of the first stage of the Independence improvement, which was from Pacific to Hanover. This section is now open to traffic.

The improvement is a Transportation Trust Fund II project.
