The ongoing project to reconstruct Independence Street will move west Monday, the Cape Girardeau city government announced in a news release Friday.
The section from Louisiana Avenue to Keller Avenue/Minnesota Avenue was reopened Thursday, except for the north side of the Keller Street intersection, which will remain closed until sidewalk and parking lot work is completed in two to three weeks.
Beginning Monday, Independence Street will be closed from the Keller/Minnesota intersection to the Caruthers Avenue intersection, the announcement said. The work is expected to be completed in 30 to 40 days, weather permitting.
