The following information was released Thursday by the federal prosecutor's office for defendants appearing in federal court before U.S. District Judge Rodney W. Sippel.
Name: James H. Douglas
Age: 29
Residence: Jackson
Charge: One felony count of interstate domestic violence. One felony count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Sentencing: Set for Sept. 27. He faces a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each count.
Summary: On Dec. 24, Douglas appeared at his wife's place of business, Easy Money at 320 N. Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau. Douglas and his wife, Jessica Douglas, left the business and traveled toward Madison, Miss. James Douglas was in possession of a 9 mm pistol the entire trip and with his plea, he admitted to hitting his wife in the face, giving her a busted lip and a black eye. The FBI located James Douglas in Gluckstadt, Miss., at a Super 8 Motel. Because of a previous felony conviction, Douglas was prohibited from carrying a firearm.
