In federal court: Cape Girardeau man sentenced to prison for selling cocaine base

The following information was released Friday by the federal prosecutor's office for defendants appearing before U.S. District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh Jr.

Charge: One count of distribution of a substance containing cocaine base and one count of distribution of five grams or more of a substance containing cocaine base

Sentence: 8 years in federal prison

Summary: On Oct. 13 Brown distributed 4.9 grams of crack cocaine to a confidential informant in the parking lot of Cape Girardeau's Victorian Inn. On Oct. 19 Brown sold 5.3 grams of crack cocaine to the same person while stopped at a stop sign on Park Street.
