GUILTY PLEAS
Name: Brian Wayne Burns
Age: 40
Residence: Sikeston, Mo.
Charge: Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
Summary: In his guilty plea, Burns admitted he sold methamphetamine to an undercover SEMO Drug Task Force informant May 17 and May 19. Authorities obtained a search warrant for Burns' residence and uncovered approximately 23 grams of a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine, plastic bags, digital scales, drug paraphernalia, cash and a loaded, .44-caliber black powder revolver. He faces a sentence of 40 years' imprisonment and $2 million fine, or both, with the court imposing a period of supervised release of at least four years.
Name: Glenn Allen Smith
Age: 44
Residence: New Madrid, Mo.
Charge: Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
Summary: In his guilty plea, Smith admitted SEMO Drug Task Force agents searched his residence July 30, uncovering eight bags of methamphetamine packaged in a manner consistent with drugs intended for street-level distribution. Smith said he had received 19 ounces, or 538 grams, of methamphetamine for distribution over the past several months. Smith faces a maximum of 20 years' imprisonment and a $1 million fine, or both, with the court imposing a period of supervised release of at least four years.
Name: Craig Thomas Priday
Age: 28
Residence: Fredericktown, Mo.
Charge: Previously convicted felon in possession of firearms.
Summary: On Aug. 16, special agents for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms obtained consent from Priday's wife to search the couple's Fredericktown, Mo., residence. The search uncovered a Winchester, lever-action rifle; a Shapleigh's Nitro King, single-barrel shotgun; a Springfield Arms Co., double-barrel shotgun; a Japanese bolt-action rifle and numerous rounds of ammunition. Priday informed agents Aug. 29 that he had previously been convicted of assault and tampering in Perry County and assault in Madison County. Due to his prior felony convictions, he is prohibited by law from possessing firearms. He faces a maximum punishment of life imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.
SENTENCES
Name: Jeffrey Maddox
Residence: Bell City, Mo.
Charge: Conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and maintaining drug-involved premises.
Sentence: 41 months in prison followed by supervised release for three years.
Summary: In his guilty plea, Maddox admitted that sometime during the summer of 2005 he entered into an agreement with another individual to obtain methamphetamine for distribution in Southeast Missouri. He drove the individual to Arkansas on about 10 occasions to pick up methamphetamine and drove him to distribute it in Southeast Missouri on several occasions. Maddox also admitted to making his Bell City residence and machine shop available for use in drug transactions in October 2005.
Name: Richard Rowe
Age: 34
Residence: Portageville, Mo.
Charge: Previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Sentence: 90 months prison.
Summary: Rowe admitted Aug. 6, 2004, to purchasing a Llama, .45-caliber pistol which had previously been stolen on June 20, 2004, from another Portageville, Mo. resident. Due to Rowe's previous felony convictions, he is prohibited by law from possessing firearms.
Name: Dion M. Coates
Residence: Cape Girardeau
Charge: Two counts of distribution of five grams or more of cocaine base. Sentence: 80 months imprisonment followed by a four-year supervised release.
Summary: In his guilty plea, Coates admitted that on or about March 12 and 14, 2005, he distributed crack cocaine to a confidential informant.
