Immigrant faces charges for allegedly threatening to blow up Cape Girardeau courthouse, police station

A man faces charges for allegedly threatening to blow up the Cape Girardeau Police Department and the Rush H. Limbaugh Sr. federal courthouse in retaliation for a police officer notifying immigration authorities about him, according to Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney Morley Swingle.

Pedro Quino-Teodoro, 23, of 3007 Wisteria St., Apt. D, was arrested Saturday and charged with two counts of making a terroristic threat and one of attempted obstruction of a governmental function, Swingle said.

A police officer was interviewing Quino-Teodoro at the scene of an assault investigation Saturday when the man threatened to kill the officer and his family if immigration authorities were contacted.

Ignoring the threat, the officer contacted immigration authorities, who confirmed Quino-Teodoro's illegal status and he was arrested.

On the way to the police department, Quino-Teodoro allegedly continued to threaten the officer, saying he'd "destroy the courthouse and police headquarters," Swingle said.

Quino-Teodoro is currently incarcerated at the Cape Girardeau County Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
