ILLINOIS MAN STABLE AFTER CAR ACCIDENT NEAR OLIVE BRANCH

OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- A Unity, Ill. man was in stable condition Sunday night at a Cape Girardeau hospital following a one-car accident near Olive Branch earlier in the day.

Larry D. Howard, 22, received "major" injuries in the accident and was admitted to Southeast Missouri Hospital, Illinois State Police said.

Howard was alone in the car, they said.

Illinois State Police said that the accident occurred at 6:15 a.m. one mile north of Olive Branch on Illinois Route 3.

The police said that Howard apparently fell asleep at the wheel. The car overturned and skidded 200 feet before coming to a halt.
