MARBLE HILL -- An Illinois man was killed and his wife seriously injured after the motorcycle he was driving was involved in a head-on collision near Marble Hill Saturday afternoon.
Charles M. Robertson, 58, of Cypress, Ill., was pronounced dead at the scene after his motorcycle struck a car head-on along Highway 34 a mile and a half east of Marble Hill, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
The accident occurred when Robertson, who was traveling east, attempted to pass a vehicle and struck a westbound vehicle. The second vehicle was driven by Amanda Nanney, 25, of Marble Hill.
Robertson's wife, Sherry, 56, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Southeast Missouri Hospital by Lifebeat helicopter.
