Illinois man charged with child sex crimes

ANNA, Ill. -- An Illinois man faces seven child sex abuse charges.

Benson T. Poirier, 33, of Anna was charged with four felony counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and three felony counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to a news release from Union County State's Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds.

Poirier is suspected of engaging in sex acts with children under 13 years old between 2005 and 2012. Poirier was arrested Friday following an investigation by the Illinois State Police. Poirier was taken to the Jackson County Jail in Murphysboro, Ill., and was released after posting $50,000 bond.
