KENNETT -- Ernest H. (Bud) Hunt has been named editor of The Daily Dunklin Democrat newspaper. He assumed his duties last week.

Hunt has a varied background in the newspaper industry and comes to Kennett from Blytheville, Ark., where he was publisher/editor of the daily newspaper, The Courier News, and a weekly sister publication, The Osceola Times.

Prior to entering the field of journalism he spent four years in sales.

He received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville, Tenn., in 1983. He graduated from A.P. Leto High School in Tampa, Florida in 1972.

Hunt was active in many community and civic events while in Blytheville and Osceola, including the South Mississippi County United Way, where he served as president and member of the board of directors for two years; Osceola-South Mississippi County Chamber of Commerce, where he served as publicity committee chairman and on the membership committee.

"We feel very fortunate to have Bud join us at The Daily Dunklin Democrat," said Barbara Hill, acting general manager. "With his editorial and marketing background, we are certain he will help us reach new goals to provide a better product for the people of Kennett and Dunklin County."

Hill joins a news staff at the The Daily Dunklin Democrat which includes Lyman Skyles, whose reporting skills in city and county events will also now be directed toward special sections; Carol Tinnin, lifestyle and food reporter; Sid Jones, sports editor; and Cathe Jones, photo~grapher/reporter.
