KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Rep. Kenny Hulshof says technology has changed how crimes are committed, and Missouri law enforcement needs help to fight back.

Hulshof is a Republican gubernatorial candidate. He introduced a package of proposals on Thursday that he says will address 21st century crime issues such as Internet safety, illegal immigration and fighting prescription drug abuse.

During a news conference in Kansas City, Hulshof also discussed strengthening Missouri's sentencing laws and reinstating the Governor's Commission on Crime.

Hulshof is facing State Treasurer Sarah Steelman in the Republican primary for governor.
