In the wake of the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti last week, many organizations are raising funds for relief. Here are some ways to help:n Out of Poverty Through Education: A Cape Girardeau organization dedicated to helping the residents of Thomassique, a city of about 43,000 people near the border with the Dominican Republic. While the group has raised money for a school and well, it is currently working to help Thomassique deal with an influx of refugees from the capital. * Soles4Souls: Collections of clean, gently worn, warm-weather appropriate shoes are being made at Marcy's Planet Shoes, 3050 William St. Sole4Souls website is www.soles4souls.org.
* Yele Haiti: An aid foundation organized by Haitian singer Wyclef Jean to help Haiti that is now focusing on earthquake relief. A donation can be made through the organization's website, www.yele.org, or a $5 donation can be made by texting YELE to 501501.
* American Red Cross: The Red Cross has a disaster fund for Haitian relief. Donations may be made by calling 800-733-2767, via the Internet at americanredcross.org or a $10 donation may be made by texting HAITI to 90999.
* Salvation Army: The Salvation Army is collecting funds for disaster relief in Haiti. Donations may be made online at www.salvationarmyusa.org, by calling 800-725-2769 or a $10 donation by texting HAITI to 52000.
* United Way Worldwide: The United Way Worldwide is collecting funds to provide food, water, clothing and other needs to Haitians. Donations may be made by calling 866-404-5826 or by texting HAITI to 864833.
