House of Brides has moved up the street, from 26 N. Pacific to 238 N. Pacific, just two blocks north.
"We purchased the business last year, and we wanted to acquire our own building," said Sherry James, owner. "The move will give us more space and we felt the location is pretty good."
"We have done a lot of remodeling and renovating at the new site," said James. "We're also trying to get the house on the National Historic Register."
The house is the old Emil M. Thilenius home, which was constructed in the late 1800s. It was later acquired by the late Dr. Marguerite Fuller, who utilized the building for her offices. She called it the Linden Building for a massive linden tree that prospered for many years in the backyard. The structure is a spacious, two-story, high-ceilinged house.
An open house will be held Nov. 8 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The Jameses Paul and Sherry purchased the House of Brides a year ago from Mary Hennemann.
"We have a complete bridal shop," said James. "We offer bridal gowns, tuxedos, party gowns, shoes, purses, and all the accessories. We also do alternations and customer-fitting."
