Southeast Missouri Hospital honored four longtime retiring Board of Trustees members with Outstanding Service Awards recently.
Honored were Paul L. Ebaugh, Martin Hecht, Howard C. Tooke and T. Frank Waltz Jr.
Hecht served 47 years as a member of the Southeast Missouri Hospital Association. He was a member of the Active Board of Trustees from 1949 to 1970, including a stint as president from 1962-63. He has served as a member of the honorary Board of Trustees since 1970.
He has been a member of the Southeast Missouri Hospital Foundation Board of Directors since its establishment in 1977, and a member of the Foundation's Million Dollar Club Gold Partner Program and the Foundation's 21st Century Partners Program. He also served as honorary co-chairman of the most recent campaign to raise more than $1.5 million in support of the hospital's largest expansion project, the Clinical Services Building.
Hecht followed in his father's footsteps: Louis Hecht served on the hospital's first Board of Trustees.
Tooke was honored for his 27 years of service as a member of the Southeast Missouri Hospital Association since 1969, and a member of the Active Board of Trustees from 1972-1995. He is also a member of the Foundation's Million Dollar Club Bronze Partner Program and 21st Century Partners Program.
He held numerous offices on the Board of Trustees, including president from 1985-87. While serving as board president, Tooke led the hospital through a $2 million renovation of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Center, establishment of Outreach Services at Doctors' Park and Home Health and Hospice Services, development of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Services, and other improvements.
Ebaugh has served on the hospital board 22 years. He was a founding member and the first president of the Southeast Missouri Hospital Foundation Board of Directors. He was also a member of the Foundation's Million Dollar Club Silver Partner Program and the 21st Century Partners Program.
Waltz was recognized for his service of 35 years as a member of the Southeast Missouri Hospital Association, including a member of the Active Board of Trustees from 1968-1983, and as a member of the Honorary Board of Trustees since 1983.
He has been active in fund-raising campaigns and a number of Board of Trustee committees.
