A signature quilt, which has been displayed at St. Francis Medical Center for several years, is being auctioned to raise money for renovation of the medical center's cafeteria.
Silent bids on the queen-size quilt are being taken now and anyone interested may bid.
The quilt was handcrafted by the St. Francis Auxiliary several years ago. Those who wished to have their name included on the quilt paid a fee and signed a quilt block. Proceeds were used to purchase equipment for the medical center.
Auxiliary member Carrie Suedekum embroidered the names and assembled the blocks. The quilt has 224 names, including those of physicians, employees, auxilians, Friends of St. Francis and other community members. The quilt has seven squares each with 32 signatures each.
It is bordered in shades of rose and has a reproduction of the statue of St. Francis in the center. All the stitching is hand-done.
