ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The Shawn Hornbeck Foundation is back in good standing in Missouri after resolving an administrative issue.
The foundation was started by the family of the boy who was found alive four years after he was kidnapped. The organization works to help the families of missing children and prevent child abduction.
It failed to file an annual registration report with Secretary of State Robin Carnahan's office in August and was dissolved in December.
Shawn's parents, Craig and Pam Akers, said they learned last week that paperwork had not been filed. But the secretary of state's office previously had sent letters to an agent for the foundation to say the report needed to be filed.
Michael Devlin is serving multiple life sentences for crimes against Hornbeck and another Missouri boy he kidnapped, Ben Ownby.
