Scott County's Sheriff's Office and Rural Fire Protection District, along with five municipalities in the county, will receive $225,000 in Homeland Security funds to upgrade security equipment.
Those receiving the grants include Chaffee, Sikeston, Kelso, Scott City and the NBC Fire Protection District.
The grants will be used to upgrade the communications equipment for city and county emergency response agencies. Those agencies will use the money to buy narrow-band digital radios to replace wide-band mobile and portable radios.
The awards are part of $5.35 million in grants to 152 local jurisdictions across Missouri.
