Tracey Newman revealed some quick and easy methods of preparing meals, and Angie Holtzhouser let visitors in on some secrets to make canned foods taste like homemade.
Newman, a Pampered Chef kitchen consultant from Ste. Genevieve, and Holtzhouser, author of the cookbook "Drop Dumplin's & Pan-Fried Memories Along the Mississippi," shared the cooking theater platform at the 22nd annual Southeast Missouri Home Builders Association Home and Garden Show.
"I do the even hours, and Angie does the odd hours," Newman said.
Holtzhouser completed her four appearances at the three-day show Saturday evening, but Newman will return today for performances at 11:30 a.m., 1, 2:30 and 4 p.m.
The show today runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The cooking theater was one of two free shows at the annual home and garden show. Joe Sherinski, a professional landscaper and horticulturist, and Paul Schnare, host of the Sunny Hill Garden Radio Show, discussed gardening with visitors.
Sherinski will appear again today at noon and 2 p.m. to tell people how to become a more effective gardener in "five easy steps."
The free shows were among the events, seminars and more than 100 exhibits at the Show Me Center over the weekend.
More than 10,000 people are expected to attend the home show.
"We had 10,000 visitors here last year, and we're running ahead of that this year," said Susan Elayer, account executive for Red Letter Communications, the marketing firm that coordinated the show. "The weather has been great."
Attendance figures for Friday and Saturday were unavailable.
Sponsored by the Southeast Missouri Home Builders Association, the show features a number of craftsmen at the show, displaying their wares.
