POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Do-it-yourselfers will soon have a new place to shop for supplies. Home Depot finalized a purchase Thursday of nearly 18 acres of land on Westwood Boulevard.
"They already have equipment setting up on the site," said Robin Blackwell, a spokesman for former property owner Blackwell-Baldwin.
Overseeing the project will be Key Construction, a group based in Wichita, Kan., which has done work in the Cape Girardeau area.
"We will begin turning dirt on Monday," said Dan Willems, assistant project manager. "We have subcontracted a number of local contractors to help in the construction."
Willems said the building will cover 121,000 square feet, or approximately 2 acres. It is scheduled for completion in April.
Home Depot carries a variety of home repair and improvement products, from building supplies to a garden center to windows and doors. It has stores in Arnold, Mo., Memphis, Tenn., Paducah, Ky., and Marion, Ill.
