SCOTT CITY -- Amy Holmes, a senior at Scott City High School, has been selected as the student of the month for January by the Breakfast Exchange Club of Cape Girardeau.
Holmes is a member of the National Honor Society, the Pep Club, Foreign Language Club, and Students Against Drunk Driving.
She is also a member of Future Business Leaders of America and is serving as the local, district and state parliamentarian. She has been the business manager of the yearbook staff for the past two years.
Holmes also attended the Missouri Scholars Academy. At Southeast Missouri State University's Math Field Day, she placed first in geometry, exponential and logarithmic functions, Algebra II and Word Problems.
In the Missouri Council of Teachers of Math state competition her team earned first place honors with Holmes earning third place honors in individual competition.
She is the daughter of Larry and Helen Holmes of Scott City.
