HOLIDAY TOURS ON TAP IN REGION: HUNTER-DAWSON TOURS SET SATURDAY AND SUNDAY

NEW MADRID -- The Hunter-Dawson State Historic Site in New Madrid will hold Christmas candlelight tours Dec. 13. Additional tours ill be held Dec. 14.

On Dec. 13, daylight tours will be held from 10 to 4 p.m. and candlelight tours from 6 to 9 p.m. On Dec. 14, tours will be held from noon until 4 p.m.

All tours are free.

The house will be decorated in the style of the Victorian era. Decorations include more than 200 yards of live pine roping, kissing boughs, a 12-foot Christmas tree and dozens of velvet bows.

The home will be lighted by 1860s chandeliers as well as candles.

The house will have almost 20 staff and volunteers dressed period costumes to tell about the house and Victorian Christmas traditions.
