Local homeowners again will open their doors to the public this weekend to raise money for a social service organization.
The 28th annual Holiday Home Tour is set for Saturday. Six homes -- three in Cape Girardeau and three in Jackson -- are on this year's tour, a fundraiser for Lutheran Family and Children's Services.
"Every year. we wonder how are we going to make the tour better than the year before, and we are always blessed," said Melody Anderson, director of regional development for Lutheran Family and Children's Services. "It's amazing how gracious people are in this community to open there homes to literally over a thousand people."
The homes on this year's tour belong to Bill and Shelly Zellmer, Adam and Paige Riley and Tyson and Rachel Zahner, all of Jackson; and Dr. David and Laura Babcock Bill, Greg and Vicki Leet and Rob and Janet Ruesler, all of Cape Girardeau.
Aloha Pools is proividing the refreshments, games and prizes.
Lutheran Family and Children's Services profides services such as senior counseling, adoption, crisis pregnancy assistance, parenting classes, abstinence-only education and an Alzheimer's support group.
