Gov. Bob Holden will be in Cape Girardeau at 12:45 p.m. today to sign legislation lowering the legal blood alcohol limit in Missouri to 0.08 percent.
The signing will take place at Cape Girardeau Police Department headquarters, 40 Sprigg St. The governor will be joined by area state lawmakers, law enforcement officials and representatives of Mothers Against Drunk Driving and Students Against Drunk Driving.
The General Assembly passed the bill lowering the blood-alcohol threshold from 0.10 percent to 0.08 last month. The law will go into effect on Sept. 29.
