Webber's appointment follows that of the Rev. Wallace Hartsfield, of Kansas City, and fills the last remaining vacancy on the six-member panel that oversees state road and bridge construction, as well as grants for such things as airports, railroads, river ports and public transit.

Both nominees still need the consent of the state Senate to serve on the commission.

The two appointments mean Holden has now named five of the six members of the transportation commission.
