ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Teamsters International president James Hoffa will be in suburban St. Louis Wednesday to announce the labor union's endorsement of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jay Nixon.
The announcement is planned for 1 p.m. at a Teamsters office in Maryland Heights.
Nixon, Missouri's attorney general, is seeking the office held by Republican Gov. Matt Blunt in the November 2008 election.
A Teamsters spokesman says Hoffa's appearance indicates how important the union sees the Missouri gubernatorial race.
