Sixteen 16x20 reproduced turn-of-the-century photographs of the Cape Girardeau riverfront business district are featured this month in downtown window displays.
May is National Historic Preservation Month.
The photos were made available by the Southeast Missouri State University Center for Regional History. The project is sponsored by the Center, the Alliance for Historic Preservation, Cape Historic Preservation Commission, Cape Convention and Visitor's Bureau and the Historical Association of Greater Cape Girardeau.
Kent Zichfield of the Downtown Merchants Association, said "The merchants have a genuine love of the history of the old business district and are delighted to have these photos displayed for those passing by."
